Biocides

Description

Microbiological contamination is one of the most critical issues encountered in cooling towers. Microorganisms can easily thrive in cooling towers where all their basic needs—such as temperature, oxygen, nutrients, and water—are present. Their growth can lead to a range of unwanted outcomes, including heat losses, corrosion, clogging problems in heat exchangers, and even health issues for workers.

In combating bacteria in cooling towers, three main types of chemicals are preferred: oxidizing, non-oxidizing, and biodispersants. Each chemical type is designed for use under different conditions and system configurations.
