Antiscalant
Description
If proper conditions are not maintained, impurities retained by the membranes can lead to clogging or deterioration of the membrane. Antiscalants are used to prevent such undesired outcomes. Antiscalants are chemicals that prevent hardness and metal ions retained on reverse osmosis (RO) membranes from forming a permanent layer on the membrane surface, which would reduce efficiency and shorten membrane life. Antiscalant dosage is calculated based on the chemical analysis of the feed water and the amount of water to be treated.
