Flocculants

Description

Flocculants; The chemical flocculation and precipitation process is widely used in wastewater treatment applications across many industries, either alone or combined with other methods. Both flocculation and coagulation are applied to assist in the sedimentation process. If the formation of flocs (clumps) in the water is not large enough for precipitation or if the settling rate is not sufficient, flocculants are used to improve sedimentation efficiency. Flocculants are chemicals that wrap around the flocs in the wastewater like a net, enabling small flocs to come together and form heavier structures that settle more quickly. They are typically composed of high molecular weight polymers.
